** About Japanese Green Tea
The tea plant contains a large number of polyphenol antioxidants which are responsible for tea's health benefits. These antioxidants include catechins, tannins, and flavonoids.
Most teas, except green, are produced by fermenting the tea leaves, a process which breaks down and chemically changes the molecular structure of tea's antioxidants.
In contrast to other teas, green teas are produced not by fermentation, but by gently steaming the fresh tea leaves. With no fermentation, green tea leaves retain their green color and almost all of their original polyphenol antioxidant content.
Green tea's tannins are astringent compounds which cause shrinkage of skin's pores. Besides beautifying skin, smaller pores prevent moisture loss, resulting in bounce and feeling hydrated.
In medicine, tannins are used in treatment of minor skin infections, superficial cuts, allergies and insect bites.
Body odor is the smell of bacteria growing on the body. Green tea's polyphenols are effective deodorants, and their anti-bacterial properties fight the occurrence of bacteria which cause body odor.
